LazyBore and Carcassonne:
I was introduced to the game by my friends, Len and Helena, in my garden in about 2013 and immediately loved the beauty of constructing a map. I got very into it and started playing on an android app a bit, mainly 4-player with expansions. I joined BGA to play more regularly but still mainly played 4-player until the Arena seasons became a thing. At that point I started playing 2-player and initially bcame very indignant at all the blocking, which apart from being effective as a strategy against me also ruined the maps. I have since embraced this side of the game and eventually became involved in the UK team in 2023, playing in the European championships of that year and in an exciting run to the semi-final of the 2024 world championship. Nowadays I prefer the deep analysis that goes with turn-based 2-player games, and have been enjoying the streamers' analysis of major international matches. I avoid 4-player and expansions because it weakens my main game, but I do miss it a bit and was very, very satisfied to win the 4-player championship at the 2024 UK Games Expo. |
